I'm excited to announce I'll be teaching 3rd grade ELA and 5th grade ELA for the 2019-2020 school year in Philadelphia, MO.  I'll have about 10 3rd graders in the morning and 12 5th graders in the afternoon. I'm in a very small rural district and will be teaching in the same school my husband went to. The school is a k-12 building. Today I'm sharing the curriculum I'll be using for 3rd grade as well as my schedule. Stay tuned for 5th grade. I'll be working closely with the 4th/6th grade teacher and we will be using the same curriculum just aligned to the other grade. Most of this aligns perfectly to Missouri Learning Standards with the exception that there will need to be some supplementing. I'm currently working on getting my Donor's Choose project completed so I'll have all my read aloud and Mentor sentence/vocab books in the hands of my students. This is going to be amazing since the past two years I've had to use YouTube to read the books to my kids. 

For my quarterly read aloud I'm going to do it as a book study. I dipped into this when I taught 5th grade and it is a great way to hold students accountable while you're reading and to be able to tie in state standards.

2) Mrs. Piggle Wiggle These books are pretty funny and totally off the wall.

3 ) Sarah Plain and Tall I haven't read this in years so I'll have to review it this summer but I loved it as a kid!

4 ) Shiloh Another one I read in elementary school that I'm excited to share with students.

I've been using the second grade Mentor Sentence buddle for the past two years and I absolutely adore the product. It is engaging and quick and I saw results. My students looked forward to this time during the day and so did I. The books used also align with the vocabulary units below and all the books can be found on YouTube. When my Donor's choose project is funded I'll have every book!

This is the first year that I'll be teaching vocabulary words in years. I'm ready to have a curriculum again and excited to use another "Ideas by Jivey" product.  You can download a free preview to check it out. All the words are found in the stories used in her mentor sentence books. 

Jessica Tobin hands down has the best products I've ever used for second grade. They are engaging, easy to use, organized and straight to the point. I love everything, I'm excited to be using her 3rd grade products and we will be doing the same in 4th. 

I'll be one-to-one with chromes next year so I'm going to try to use Google Classroom! These look engaging and rigorous for my higher level students and are premade resources. I'm all about not reinventing the wheel.

For guided reading, I'm still going to be using reading A-Z. I love that their texts align to Fountas and Pinnell

My writing is still up in the air. I've got some ideas but I don't have anything set in stone yet!
